The High Tatras are the highest mountain range in Slovakia and the smallest alpine mountains in the world. They offer hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails, dozens of mountain lakes and panoramic views. The Tatra Electric Railway conveniently connects the main resorts.
Tatranská Lomnica is one of the most popular Tatra resorts. The cable car takes you to Skalnaté Pleso (1,751 m) and further to Lomnický štít (2,634 m) — the second-highest peak in the Tatras. In winter, it is a popular ski resort with modern slopes.
Štrbské Pleso is the most famous Tatra lake and a popular starting point for hikes. The lakeside is ideal for walks, and from Chata pod Soliskom trails lead into the Mlynická and Furkotská valleys. In winter, you’ll find cross-country ski tracks and ski jumps.
Slovak Paradise National Park is a paradise for adventure hiking enthusiasts. Unique gorges with ladders, chains and footbridges offer unforgettable experiences. The most popular is the Suchá Belá gorge with waterfalls and the Hornád Breakthrough — an 18 km long canyon.
Spiš Castle is one of the largest castle ruins in Central Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 12th-century castle offers fascinating history and beautiful views. Together with Spiš Chapter and the town of Levoča, it forms a unique cultural complex.
The historic town of Levoča is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Basilica of St James houses the world’s tallest Gothic wooden altar (18.62 m), the work of Master Paul from 1506–1517. The beautifully preserved historic square with burgher houses transports you to the Middle Ages.
Traditional raft rides down the Dunajec River through Pieniny National Park are an experience for the whole family. The 18 km route leads through a dramatic canyon with cliffs up to 300 m high. Raftsmen in traditional costumes share legends and history along the way.
Spišská Sobota is a historical urban conservation area and part of Poprad. The preserved Renaissance square with burgher houses and the Church of St George with its Gothic altar are gems of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. An ideal place for a short stroll with coffee.
